Very rightly said maam, loan waiver is not the remedy for supporting farmers they need to be made self suffiecient by good policy making.

Very good article and you have captured the problems very well Populist democracy at its worst. But no one can raise voice against this since it is a JAI KISAN issue Pathetic economics

India should learn from Garmeen Bank strategies of Bangladesh where success rate of loan recovery is more than 90%.. Hope it will come soon in India

We need to think on innovative ways to help farmers but cant encourage financial indiscipline. as this will set wrong precedence. Great Article as Always.

why don't government appoint a officer for each village to review loaned farmers and produce. this will justify at least a certain section of defaulters regards, Harish

Govtshould stop all this or can waive only interest part of it or only a part loan.
