Camping is not exactly what you think of while holidaying in India. For starters, camping as a concept is still in its nascent stages in India. Secondly, one has to worry about their safety and security. Camping is popular across the world, a cheap option to explore different places but still non-existent in the country- until Big Red Tent.

This 4 year old venture operates just at three campsites, Kolad, Vashind and Karnala in Maharashtra but is posting a revenue of over Rs.35 lakh. The locations allow couples, families and groups to backpack, hike, camp and connect with nature at a price of Rs.2000 per day per person that includes accommodation in tent and food.

While private camping might be more fun and offers more flexibility, it is organizations like Big Red Tent, which will introduce Indians to a camping holiday. Camping is a way of connecting with nature and this is sure to launch more organizations like these, a new way to discover India, the cheaper and adventurous way.
