Getting ready for baby boom

China recently did away with the one-child policy and there is now a big business opportunity – baby stuff – right from clothes, toys, accessories and et al.

Within a couple of hours after the news came in that families could now have two children, an ad came up on the Chinese social media – it advertised for a mobile app wherein pregnant women and new mothers could be directly connected to doctors. From the company, Mami Zhidao (“mommy knows”), the ad featured four doctors dressed as comic superheroes.

Entrepreneurs say they have high hopes for the business of catering to mothers and children. Venture capitalists are expected to focus on baby goods and services as they see this sector having immense growth potential, even though rest of China is slowing down.

This is called looking at a bright spot in an otherwise dark, gloomy sky!
