There is a story behind every logo and the ones behind some of the illustrious auto companies is amazing.

Audi has these four rings – they call it hoops which represent the four founding companies, with the first ring from the left representing Audi, second represents DKW, third is Horch and fourth of the Auto-Union consortium.

The famous Apple logo was designed with a bite so that it would not be confused with a cherry. This logo is often erroneously referred to as a tribute to Alan Turing, with the bite mark a reference to his method of suicide. Both Janoff and Apple deny any homage to Turing in the design of the logo.

The tri-star of Mercedes Benz was used by Karl Benz to mark his/his factory's location on a map to his wife so she could come meet him. He said that the star would one day shine over the company. So his children decided to use it as the official logo. Also it denotes that their engines would one day dominate land, sea, and air.

The Nike logo was created by a freelance graphic designer wayback 1964 and her name is Carolyn Davidson. To cut the story short she was angry for getting 4 rejections for a logo she had made for a new shoe company by Phil Knight (Nike Owner) by putting a X mark designs in her 5th logo she just provided a design that is a glorified check hoping Phil will not cross it out again. And that mark is called swoosh.

BMW, which stands for Bayerische Motoren Werke, means Bavarian Motor Work. It denotes the colors of the Bavarian flag and represents the movement of the aircraft propellers, with white blades cutting through blue skies – the company used to make planes and denotes that.
