They need a lot of "light!"

This is unbelievable and that too in a country like USA, which is supposedly so developed!

Members of the public in Woodland, North Carolina, expressed their fear and mistrust at the proposal to allow Strata Solar Company to build a solar farm off Highway 258. One man voiced his fear that solar farms would suck up all the energy from the sun and businesses would not go to Woodland. Another, that too a scientist said that she was concerned the panels would prevent plants in the area from photosynthesizing, stopping them from growing. She also questioned the high number of cancer deaths in the area, saying no one could tell her solar panels didn't cause cancer. Among the reasons they gave were that a growing solar industry would harm the economy and reduce the value of homes in the area.

There are others who are refuting this story and say that this are not the right reasons. They say the "real" reason it was rejected was because the new solar farm would've been pretty much in their backyards. This would become an eye sore most with solar panels marring all views and also the fact that solar panels could bring down land value. Yet the fact remains that the few handful of people got this solar plant plan rejected.

This just goes on show how only a small fraction of the population is “educated” while most are ignorant and victims of religious zealots and superstitions. Makes you feel that India is so much more better off, at least on so many other aspects!
