Who is the most miserable of all?

Bloomberg has prepared a list of the world’s worst economies. There are 63 countries which figure out on this list and is compiled by adding a country's jobless rate and inflation. This is known as the ‘Misery Index’ and topping the list – no surprises here, it is Venezuela. Oil makes up for 95% of the country’s exports and with the fall in price of crude, its economy has gone for a toss. Prices at the pump in Venezuela are the cheapest in the world, even as costs for everyday items and luxuries are surging, dinner for two could more than one’s minimum wage.

Taking second place is Argentina and other three in the top five list are South Africa, Greece and Ukraine. Others in the list, top 10 are Spain, Serbia, Turkey, Brazil and Kazakhstan.  Two Scandinavian countries which usually figure out in the “happy list” Finland and Poland also figure out in this misery list are at 27th and 28th spot. United States is also there at number 51, UK at 64 and Switzerland at 61.

And no, India does not figure out on this list, neither does Afghanisthan, Pakistan,  Iraq, Syria. Maybe because most of us do not have monthly unemployment data which is so crucial for this list?
