Bharti Airtel rings a 'red' tune

Bharti Airtel is down in the red today, falling over 2.5% to Rs.340 and its intra day low at Rs.339.30.

The stock is down despite the company issuing a clarification over the news item which appeared yesterday, that Airtel may have to pay Rs 436 Crs for merger. So today, the company has clarified,
"At the outset we wish to inform you that the Company has not received any order demanding Rs. 436 Cr. from Department of Telecom. The Company, as a matter of policy, does not wish to comment on the present speculative news items and if required, will make necessary disclosures at an appropriate time."
