If you travel to Uttaranchal anytime when the farming process is on, the chances are you would see a lot of whites and non-Indians sweating and toiling away on the fields.

Volunteers from around the world travel to the Navdanya Biodiversity Conservation Farm for anywhere from a few days to six months learning about Indian agriculture and organic farming.  The volunteers live on the farm, work alongside real farmers and learn about planting, weeding, harvesting and sorting seeds.  While for farmers additional hands are always welcome, for most volunteers the experience is like an eco-resort.

The number of Indians volunteers travelling here are less while non-Indian volunteer don’t mind traveling halfway across the world for this experience. Maybe, its time we appreciate what our country has to offer too. Why travel abroad when there’s so much to do in India?
