It's the poor who suffer

The long queues at ATMs and banks across the country made one wonder whether we were living in some banana republic? How did we ever get to this situation? Yes, over 90% of our country works on cash and though the move for demonization is laudable, it is too bad that this was not handled too well.

The middle class and the upper middle will not face too much hardship as they have the wherewithal to do all things online. The worst sufferers are indeed the poor and those in the lower income. For many, especially those earning daily ages, house-helpers, drivers, this is a serious blow. Just as in war, it is poor and poorest which suffer, here too while the war is against black money and terrorism, the biggest blow is being felt by the poor.

The sad truth is that those who had the sense to evade taxes and hoard cash, they are sure to know how to deal this situation too. And therein lay the irony of life.
