Wants to do an 'India' in Australia!

In India, big industrialists with deep pockets virtually rule the Govt. It is never a shock or surprise to see these industrialists dictating laws and regulations that need to be bent to accommodate their plans. Most of the times, their ‘requests’ are adhered to – so many laws if you look around, are designed to suit the honcho and not the people or the environment.

Thus we could not help but laugh out aloud when Adani, used to getting his way in India, tried to dictate law to the Australian Govt and is not getting flak from all quarters. It is reported that the Adani Group has ‘requested’ the Austrialian government to draft a special law that prohibits green groups from seeking repeated judicial reviews for environmental approvals. The leading national environmental organization Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) is crying, rather howling in anger.

Adani group’s $15 billion Carmichael coal mine, rail and port project in Queensland is stuck since 2010 for want of green nod. In India, it quickly got all clearances, despite the harm it causes to the ecology; even projects which were earlier stuck. So for Adani, changing laws in India is business as usual; after all, we are people who worship Nature but do not bother taking care of Her.

Let’s see how Adani’s clout works in Australia – there people are passionate about the environment and expecting an India to happen there, would be akin to fantasizing.
