SCI in rough waters

Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) is the top loser on the bourses, down over 9% intra day at Rs.67.45. Its 52-week low stands at Rs.54.50.
The big disappointment is the company’s Q1FY17 performance as there was an overall drop across all earnings. Total income was down 22% (YoY) at Rs.840 crore and the drop in net profit was very sharp – down 73% at Rs.56 crore. EBITDA was down 40% at Rs.214 crore and margins were down to 33% from 25.4%.
Its liner and bunker verticals are in the red. Tanker, which contributes 76% to the topline showed a 16% drop in revenue and EBIT was down by a sharp 30%.
