If you have seen the Twilight saga, you would know that Forks, a small town in Washington, USA is where people endure the greatest amount of rain.  That is an annual rainfall of 4000 mm which is nothing compared to Cherrapunji in Meghalaya, India which receives an annual rainfall of 12,000 mm. It really is no surprise then that Cherrapunji is known as the ‘Wettest Place on Earth.’

Recently, however, this town near the India-Bangladesh border has become a hub for testing International products before its launch. Italian made Geox waterproof shoes was tested here and its print ad proudly states, “Tested in the wettest place on earth in the monsoons.” Yamaha too sent three of their newly launched gearless scooters to test their driving worthiness in Cherrapunji, now called Sohra. There are a host of other companies which have signed up to shoot in the scenic locations of Meghalaya.

It has the cleanest village in Asia, a 18 hole natural golf course in Shillong and several mining areas as well. India really is a land of beauty and wonders. And, Meghalaya, is India’s recently discovered paradise. Get ready to see a lot more of this Indian town in International ads, as well!
