Electronic Component Manufacturing (EMS) stocks including Syrma SGS, Dixon and others rose up to 2% after the government cleared 31 new proposals under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme, involving investments of Rs. 7,877 crore. With this, total approvals under ECMS have crossed 106 projects, with cumulative investments above Rs. 69,000 crore.

Trigger

  • 31 fresh electronics component projects approved.
  • Investment commitment at Rs. 7,877 crore.
  • Total ECMS approvals now exceed Rs. 69,000 crore.
  • Projects cover camera modules, display modules, connectors, enclosures, speakers, microphones, antenna, magnets and other key components.

The move is positive for EMS players as it deepens India’s domestic component ecosystem, reducing import dependence and supporting higher local value addition. For companies like Dixon and Syrma, the benefit lies in better sourcing, faster execution and stronger cost competitiveness over time.

The caution is that these are long-gestation approvals. The market will now watch how quickly projects are commissioned and whether localisation actually improves margins, especially as leading EMS stocks already trade at rich valuations.
