Tanla goes "la,lal,la!"

Tanla Platforms is currently the top gainer on the BSE, rising 13.67% to Rs. 636.90, after the company reported a strong Q1 FY27 performance. The stock gained Rs. 76.60 from its previous close of Rs. 560.30, opened at Rs. 593.80 and touched an intraday high of Rs. 656.70, as investors reacted to healthy revenue growth, stronger profit growth and robust free cash flow conversion.

Trigger

  • Q1 FY27 revenue stood at Rs. 1,226 crore, up 17.8% YoY and 4.1% QoQ.
  • Gross profit stood at Rs. 326 crore, up 25.1% YoY and 2.6% QoQ.
  • EBITDA stood at Rs. 201 crore, up 22.7% YoY and 4.9% QoQ.
  • Profit after tax stood at Rs. 142 crore, up 20.1% YoY and 5.8% QoQ.
  • EPS stood at Rs. 10.77.
  • Free cash flow stood at Rs. 126 crore, equal to 89% of PAT.
  • Management said the quarter reflected profitable growth, not revenue growth at any cost.
  • London Business School published a case study on Tanla’s Wisely.ai deployment with Indosat.
  • The Wisely.ai deployment protects over 100 million users in Indonesia from spam and scam communications.
  • Tanla also received special recognition at the IIT Madras Social Impact Awards 2026 for the Cyberabad Traffic Pulse initiative.

The market is reacting positively because Tanla’s Q1 numbers show improvement in the quality of growth. Revenue grew 17.8% YoY, but gross profit and EBITDA grew faster, which indicates better operating leverage and a healthier business mix.

The free cash flow number is especially important. Free cash flow of Rs. 126 crore, or 89% of PAT, shows that reported profit is converting into cash. For platform and communication technology companies, strong cash conversion is a key comfort factor because it signals that growth is not being achieved by stretching working capital or sacrificing financial discipline. The AI-platform validation is also helping the sentiments.

The rally is also helped by valuation optics. On a consolidated basis, the stock trades at around 12.7 times earnings, which appears reasonable if the company can sustain double-digit growth, strong cash generation and improving platform contribution.
