Trigger
- Welspun Corp has secured the largest-ever single order in its history.
- The order is valued at around USD 1.8 billion, or nearly Rs. 17,200 crore.
- The order is for supply of pipes from its USA manufacturing facility.
- Execution is scheduled between FY28 and FY29.
- With this win, Welspun Corp’s global order book has reached a record USD 4.4 billion, or around Rs. 42,100 crore.
- The order strengthens multi-year revenue visibility and reinforces its position in the North American energy infrastructure market.
The scale of the order is the key reason for the market excitement. At nearly Rs. 17,200 crore, the single order itself is equivalent to around 28% of the company’s current market capitalisation, while the total global order book of Rs. 42,100 crore is nearly 70% of market cap. That gives investors much stronger visibility on future revenues.
The near-term caution is that the order will be executed only over FY28 and FY29, so the earnings benefit will not show immediately in FY27. Valuation also needs watching after the sharp move, with the stock trading at 69.14x standalone PE, though the consolidated PE at 26.07x appears more reasonable against the expanded order book.
