India Cements builds new high

India Cements is in the news today, rising to Rs.394.95, up almost 7%, hitting a new 52-week high. The stock continues to remain strongly in the green, trading at around Rs.392 levels.

UltraTech’s promoter group opened an Offer for Sale (OFS) to sell up to 2.01 crore shares  or 6.49% stake. This is not an exit move and is mainly to comply with SEBI’s 75% promoter holding cap. Promoters need to bring down their stake to ensure at least 25% public shareholding, and this OFS is the route chosen.

UltraTech Cement held 81.49% at end of Q1FY26 and after this stake sale, it will hold 75%.

India Cements rallying today is less about UltraTech’s promoter action itself, and more about the cement sector sentiment, demand outlook, and rotation into other cement counters while UltraTech supply is being digested.

While UltraTech absorbed supply pressure, investors rotated into peers, with India Cements benefiting from talk of potential consolidation in the sector. Strong infra and housing demand outlook in South India, coupled with a technical breakout, further fuelled the rally.
