Usually, when a suit is to be stitched, the process starts with first selecting and buying the right fabric, finding the right tailor. He then takes over with measurements and updates one about the latest style and what could look best on you. Then there could a couple of ‘fitting’ meets, where you try the suit, correct the errors before it gets fully made. Pay the bill, take the suit home. That’s it!

But this family in Italy, Casa Rubinacci has made it into a tourist destination. They are in Naples, Italy and they make suits for some of the richest, with the starting cost at $5400, including the European VAT. This is the minimum cost and it is usually delivered in a week. But they give a perk – you can go and stay at their villa, enjoy Italian hospitality and they will even take you to around to all their favourite spots. They say this way the client is available for all fittings. And mind you, this stay does not come at an extra cost – whether you stay or no, the suit comes at a minimum price of $5400. This stay in their villa is just a perk! So what you are paying for is Rubinacci tag.

Over 90% of their clientele is foreigners where men fly in, stay at one of their seven suites, have a relaxed holiday and then go back with their suit. Each of these suites (not the wearing one but staying one) is decorated by Mariano Rubinacci—the founder of this brand, Genarro’s son—and including amenities such as a kitchen and flat-screen TV.  Wow! This is what they mean when they say doing things Italian style; it is indeed in style!
