Dish TV is holding steady among the top three gainers on the BSE since the opening bell. It opened with a gain of over 3% at Rs.32.30, going up more than 7% to Rs.33.55.
There is unconfirmed news broken by Business Standard that the promoters of Dish TV might sell their 58% holding to Bharti Airtel’s digital arm – Airtel Digital TV for around Rs.5000 crore.
The report says that the discussion began in March, wherein Goel had quoted Rs.62/share and after negotiations, it has now been fixed at Rs.45-50/share. Airtel Digital TV and private equity firm Warburg Pincus are likely to partner for the purchase.
Airtel plans to merge Dish TV with Airtel Digital TV through a share swap after acquiring the former's promoter stake and making an open offer for a 20% stake.
All this is unconfirmed news as the company is yet to put out any official word on this development.
