We have just got over Baba Rampal and his antics and now we another Baba. This is actually a very peculiar case, of the Frozen Baba; funny if you are able to laugh at yourself or else, it is a pretty scary situation - we and our misguided philosophy of religion and guru's. So this Frozen Baba, once again in Punjab, was declared dead in January 2014.

CAN INDIA INC PRACTICE YOGA?

We all, in our small way have been trying to inculcate the practice of yoga in our day-to-day life; be it breathing right or standing erect or practicing the surya namaskara’s. There is no doubt that with regular concentrated practice, life can change for the good and we will see a change from within and on the outside. And that gave rise to the thought – why can’t India Inc also practice yoga? Why can’t Indian companies incorporate the ashtanga’s of yoga as propounded by Patanjali (the founder of yoga not Baba Ramdev)? This becomes all the more relevant in the backdrop of Indian banks floundering and drowning under the deluge of bad debts.

INDIA CAN NEVER BE 'DYNASTY MUKT'

As we head into a loooooong weekend, here is a very light hearted but deep rooted article. Nothing 'financial' or 'economics' about it! Just some food for thought. The Gandhi's are out of power and Rahul baba keeps on making these various "foot-o-mouth-o-pia" statements, showing how deep rooted the problem really is with the UPA. On a funny note - Rahul announced

Data is the new oil. That’s the one big message we got from the AGM of Reliance Industries yesterday. And that could explain why the AGM was more about Jio and very little about petrochem.

APPLE - WILL IT 'COOK' THE RIGHT PIE WITH INDIAN MASALA?

For most of his working life, the founder of Apple, Steve Jobs avoided India. There is really no exact reason for his aversion to India but the story goes that when he was 18 years old, when he had not even envisioned Apple or Mac, he and his friend came to India, seeking enlightenment. But they were disappointed. In his biography, Jobs said that he found India to be intense and disturbing and ended his search for enlightenment very abruptly

BABAs TRANSFORMING INTO CEOs - BLURRING THE SPIRITUAL LINE

What does this mean to you and me? In an ideal world, in which probably our parents lived, a spiritual guru was one who guided us onto the path of knowledge, wisdom and helped us find the purpose of life. His teachings were more about delving into oneself and cleansing one from all the "mayajaals" of life. He preached a life of detachment - it did not mean living away from the loved ones but learning to live a balanced life like a mountain on the shores

MAGGI BACK ON SHELVES - TO EAT OR NOT TO EAT?

A close acquaintance is ecstatic. She is actually throwing a party. The theme - Maggi Noodles. We do not go dressed as noodles but the only thing on the menu would be Maggi Noodles. She was quick to snap quite a few packets on Snapdeal and later rummaged stores across Mumbai for more packets - in case there is a ban all over again

WISH YOU WERE LISTED......

It is human nature - to always aspire for things which are not there, not available. The lure is primarily because it is unavailable. And that is why, despite over 5000 stocks being listed on the BSE, there is always the lure for those stocks, true blue blooded stocks which are unlisted. Maybe on the bourses, amongst listed stocks, we have reached a point where valuations are stretched over the select few stocks and the rest are not

YOGA INC - THE NEW MONEY MACHINE

And as stress increases, ancient sciences have started coming back to our rescue. Like Yoga and Ayurveda. These two have been in existence as long as mankind has been. We Indians would have buried these precious knowledge's unless the Western world had not given it the kind of recognition that it has today. Ironic but that is the truth of today - yoga is a big deal today only because the western world practices it, recognized it as a panacea for most ills of contemporary world. Otherwise the youth of today would have shunned it, thought it was way

CABINET RESHUFFLE - WHAT HAPPENS TO THE JOKERS IN THE PACK?

A cabinet reshuffle? The thought is more for a completely new cabinet, not same old wine in new bottle. When there are no performers at all, how does it matter which minister handles what; wherever the same ministers are shuffled to, they will remain ineffective. Thus the very idea of shunting the same old non-performing
