The budget session of Parliament began on February 23, 2016 and had 16 sittings until March 16, 2016. Lok Sabha was prorogued on March 29 and Rajya Sabha on March 30. During this session, a total of 7 Bills were passed of which 2 were introduced during the session. The Bills which were passed, excluding the previously mentioned two, included the Election Laws (Amendment) Bill, the Carriage by Air (Amendment) Bill, 2015,

There are newspaper reports suggesting that Vedanta Resources is giving final touches to a merger of Sesa Goa with Sterlite Industries, creating a Rs 40,000-crore metals giant. This will also mean that Cairn India will get realigned with the new entity.

The stock s having a pretty volatile day’ from its close of Rs.565.85, the stock opened less than 1% higher at Rs.569.95 but soon surged to hit a new 52-week high at Rs.571.90;

The stock hovering around Rs 468-474, up about 1-2 % from the previous close, even as it remains nearly two-thirds below its 52-week high of Rs 1,346 and just above its 52-week low of Rs 456.
