There was a Shah Jahan then who built a Taj Mahal, which symbolizes eternal love. And today, there is another smaller and less grander Taj Mahal built once again by a husband for his wife.

Faizul Hasan Qadri, a retired 81-year-old postmaster at Bulandshahar, tried his level best to build a mini Taj for his wife, Tajamulli Beum, who died in 2011. He spent his entire life savings but could not complete it.

Sadly, Qadri died  two days ago, died in a road accident yesterday. The former CM Akhilesh Yadav had once offered him funds to complete the structure, but Faizul politely declined. Instead, he requested the CM to give money to a all-girls school which was next to his land and was facing paucity of funds. Qadri donated his last piece of land for this school even as his onw dream could not be completed.

Qadri had left some space for himself inside the ‘Taj’. He wished to be buried next to his wife’s grave. The two did not have any children.

He lived in a small house where his ‘Taj’ and the new school building were visible from the window.

Well, Qadri could not make a Taj but he left behind a school for so many girls. That’s bigger than a Taj!
