Missing the air travel and the food? Well, if you were living in Thailand, there was a solution at hand.

There, they have turned a few airplanes into cafes, trying to recreate the experiences of air travel. Known as ‘plane cafes’ the passengers, err, the customers, can order food and even go into the cockpit. And to make the “feel” just perfect, they are also handed over Boarding passes to make one feel the true spirit of air travel.

At the moment, there are two ‘Plane cafes’ of which one is a retired commercial flight in Pattaya and the other one is aboard the national carrier, Thai Airways, in Bangkok.

Well, before we beat up India for not taking on this idea – we already have one such Plane Café. Known as ‘Runway 1’ it is aboard an Airbus 320, docked in Delhi and this one has been operating since a couple of years. Maybe, this is what they should have done with the rusting Kingfisher airplanes; at least it would have earned some money.
