IIM is IIM...

The fees might have touched the sky and at the end of the curse, you might get just a diploma, yet it is the undeniable truth – IIM is IIM, there is no denying the glory which awaits students who pass out from this illustrious school of management. Getting into IIM means, to a large extent that life is set!  And is there any concern on the campus regarding the ongoing slowdown in India Inc?

There is not even a ghost of a frown or worry. News is that pre-placement offers of PPOs as it is popularly known on the campuses, according to an IIM-Calcutta statement, it witnessed the highest number of PPOs this year in the management consulting domain across all IIMs, at 27. One of the key trends this year was the increase in international roles offered by recruiters such as Optiver, Alshaya, Protiviti, Mahindra Comviva, Airtel and Sharaf DG. At IIM-Calcutta, Amazon made the highest number of offers (16, including PPOs) on campus for various leadership and operation roles. Next in line came Boston Consulting Group, which made 12 offers.

Last year we witnessed drop in PPOs as companies were not exactly coming in droves as was the case earlier. That has in fact proved to be a blessing in disguise as this led to IIMs hunt around and invite new companies and that has paid off pretty well! Changing times, changing preferences; though the preference for IIMs remains unchanged.
