Auto and its components and tyre stocks are down in the red today. On the BSE Auto Index, which covers 15 stocks, 12 of these stocks are in the red while only 3 – Tata Motors, Cummins India and Eicher Motors are in the green. Bajaj Auto, Maruti, Balkrishna Inds, Apollo Tyres, M&M, MRF, Ashok Leyland, Motherson Sumi, TVS Motors, Bosch, Exide and Hero Moto are all down.
This fall comes in today after the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) put out its cumulative monthly sales for the sector for the month of November.
Its report showed what we all knew all along – auto sales continue to remain low. Its passenger vehicle sales was down around 1% to 2,63,773 and that of two-wheelers was down over 14% at 14,10,939 units.
Sales of trucks and buses was down 15% at 61,907 units.
Domestic car sales was down 11% at 1,60,306 units.
Vehicle sales across categories registered a decline of 12.05% to 17.92 lakh units (YoY).
