Axiscades hits new high

AXISCADES Technologies extended its rally on Wednesday, rising 6.68% to Rs. 2,211.35 on the BSE and touching a fresh 52-week high of Rs. 2,280.05, which was also its 10% upper price band. The move follows Tuesday’s large block deal, where 45.48 lakh shares changed hands at Rs. 1,824 per share, valuing the transaction at Rs. 829.72 crore. Volumes remained strong today, with 0.77 lakh shares traded against a two-week average of 0.33 lakh shares, while market cap stood at Rs. 9,405.64 crore.

Trigger

  • Large block deal in AXISCADES on September 29.
  • Promoter entity Jupiter Capital sold 45.48 lakh shares, or 10.69% stake, for Rs. 829.72 crore.
  • Buyers reportedly included institutional investors, with Abakkus and Kotak AMC picking up a combined 7.92% stake.
  • Stock hit 10% upper circuit yesterday and extended gains today.
  • Company recently incorporated a new aerospace subsidiary, Akkodis Axiscades Aerospace Engineering.
  • Market is reading the deal as institutional validation of the defence/aerospace engineering story.

The key reason the stock rallied despite a promoter stake sale is that the market appears to be focusing on who absorbed the supply. A large promoter sale can sometimes be negative, but if strong institutional buyers take the shares, the market reads it as confidence in the business. That is why AXISCADES rose sharply instead of falling.

The second sentiment driver is the defence and aerospace theme. AXISCADES has already had a strong run, helped by investor appetite for defence engineering, aerospace design and technology-services companies. The new aerospace subsidiary adds to that narrative, even though the block deal is the immediate trigger.

AXISCADES now trades at a very rich consolidated PE of around 258x, while the BSE screen also flags that the scrip PE has been above 50 for the previous four trailing quarters. Market depth also shows slightly higher sell quantity than buy quantity, suggesting some profit-booking pressure after the sharp move.
