Trigger
- Q2 FY27 revenue rose 17.3% YoY to Rs. 4,338 crore.
- EBITDA jumped 27.2% YoY to Rs. 1,175 crore.
- EBITDA margin expanded 210 bps YoY to 27.1%.
- Reported consolidated net profit rose approximately 39% YoY to Rs. 712 crore.
- Domestic pharmaceutical business, excluding consumer healthcare, grew 15.9% YoY.
- International revenue increased 33% YoY.
- Cardiac and anti-diabetes therapies recorded growth of approximately 19% and 16%, respectively.
- H1 FY27 EBITDA grew 26% to Rs. 2,235 crore, with PAT rising 33.7% to Rs. 1,290 crore.
The biggest positive is that profitability is growing considerably faster than revenue, indicating better operating leverage and improved product mix. Domestic revenue, excluding consumer healthcare, reached Rs. 3,428 crore, supported by demand for chronic medicines used in cardiac care and diabetes. The speciality portfolio of Bharat Serums and Vaccines (BSV) also recorded double-digit growth, strengthening Mankind's position in higher-value therapies.
At Rs. 2,493, Mankind Pharma trades at approximately 45.5x consolidated PE, with a price-to-book ratio of 9.55. Following the sharp rally, investors are pricing in sustained growth in chronic medicines, speciality products and exports, along with continued margin improvement.
The key takeaway: Mankind Pharma's rally is backed by strong earnings, improving margins and broad-based pharmaceutical growth, rather than momentum alone. However, at current valuations, maintaining double-digit revenue growth, reducing acquisition-related debt and improving cash conversion will be essential to justify the market's optimism.
