Ola Electric vrooooms today

Ola Electric Mobility is currently the top gainer on the BSE, rising 10.83% to Rs. 41.87. The stock opened at Rs. 38.16 against its previous close of Rs. 37.78 and touched an intraday high of Rs. 42.32. Volumes were strong, with 175.47 lakh shares traded against a two-week average of 47.77 lakh shares, while turnover stood at Rs. 72.19 crore. Market depth, however, shows much higher sell quantity at 40.42 lakh shares against buy quantity of 14.07 lakh shares, suggesting profit-booking pressure after the sharp move.

Trigger

  • Ola Electric’s newly launched S1Z scooter range has brought the stock back into focus.
  • The S1Z starts at Rs. 79,999 for the 3.1 kWh variant and Rs. 99,999 for the 5.1 kWh variant.
  • The scooter uses LFP cell chemistry and offers IDC range of 179 km for the 3.1 kWh version and 301 km for the 5.1 kWh version.
  • The product is positioned as a more affordable mass-market EV scooter, which is important as Ola tries to regain lost market share.
  • The company is also shifting towards dealer-led stores, after earlier relying heavily on a direct-to-consumer model.

The market is reading the S1Z launch as a possible volume-recovery trigger. Ola’s biggest problem over the past year has not been lack of brand recall, but weaker sales momentum, service issues and rising competition from TVS, Bajaj, Ather and Greaves Electric. A lower-priced scooter with in-house battery technology gives investors hope that Ola can defend its position in the electric two-wheeler market.

The sales data shows why this product launch matters. Ola delivered 1,73,794 units in FY26, sharply lower than 3,07,846 units in FY25, while Q4 FY26 deliveries stood at 20,256 units. For early September 2026, VAHAN registration data showed Ola at 2,607 units between September 1–9, with 4.5% market share, just behind Greaves Electric’s Ampere brand at 2,645 units and 4.6% share.

So today’s rally is less about current sales being strong and more about the market betting on a turnaround. Investors are hoping that the S1Z, Bharat Cell/LFP positioning, dealership expansion and festive-season demand can help Ola recover volumes from a weak base.

The caution is that the financial picture is still weak. In Q1 FY27, Ola reported a net loss of Rs. 336 crore, while revenue from operations fell 45% YoY to Rs. 455 crore. The company still has negative EPS and the BSE screen flags zero trailing EPS. So the stock is merely reacting strongly to a product-led recovery hope.
