Sesa Sterlite top gainer
The top gainer on the BSE currently is Sesa Sterlite, which is up almost 4% at Rs.303, with volumes spiking up around 1.5 times.
The stock has surged after the Goa Chief Minister presented a set of solutions to restart mining in Goa, whose direct and biggest beneficiary will be Sesa Sterlite. The Minister has suggested direct auction through the competitive bidding process to once again start mining. He also suggested formation of a Mining Corporation which will do mining through State Mining Development Corp. He also urged the state Govt to grant fresh leases through preferential grant under MMRDA Act and also renewal of applications pending since 2006. He also asked the assembly to renew 27 leases from 2007 by 15th of Oct. The state Govt is expected to notify the Goa Mining Policy by 20th Sept.
