TARIL jumps up
Transformers and Rectifiers India rose 3.66% to Rs.314.70 on the BSE, after touching an intraday high of Rs.327 against the previous close of Rs.303.60. The stock has cooled from the day’s high, with market depth showing sell quantity of 2.19 lakh against buy quantity of 86,808, indicating profit booking after the early spike. The company’s market cap stands at around Rs.9,443 crore.
Trigger
- Secured a large order for Generator Transformers for NPCIL’s Kaiga Units 5 & 6 nuclear power project in Karnataka.
- Order received from Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd.
- This is TARIL’s first order in the nuclear power sector.
- Kaiga Units 5 & 6 are two indigenous 700 MWe PHWR nuclear reactors.
- Together, the units will add 1,400 MW nuclear generation capacity.
- The transformers will support power evacuation and integration with the transmission network.
The key positive is strategic rather than just order-book driven. Entry into the nuclear power segment gives TARIL access to a high-entry-barrier, critical infrastructure vertical where qualification, reliability and execution credentials matter. That said, the company has not disclosed the order value, so the immediate earnings impact is difficult to quantify.
The caution is valuation and follow-through. The stock is already trading at a PE of 43.88x standalone and 35.10x consolidated, and today’s order-led rally has seen selling pressure emerge at higher levels.
