Siemens for its fourth quarter ended 30th Sept 2014 posted a bumper net profit of Rs.437 crore, a whopping 193% jump and this was thanks to an exceptional gain of Rs.366 crore. This gain was on account of profit from sale of asset and CENVAT credit. There was also a 5 times rise in other income at Rs.62 crore.

On the operational front, net sales was actually down 2.4% (YoY) at Rs.3111 crore. EBITDA was up 26% at Rs.221 crore and this was only on account of 4% drop in operating cost. EBITDA margin was better at 7.10% compared to 5.49% in previous Q4.

The company ended the year with a net profit of Rs.603 crore and this was up 211%, once again only account of the exceptional gain. Volumes registered a 6% decline as infra spending remained sluggish. Cash as at end of 30th Sept’14 was at Rs.1121 crore, up 85%. And reserves stands at a healthy Rs.4304 crore. Overall, even despite the exceptional gain, improvement was seen across all business verticals on sequential basis.
